Opiniones

My father was in this care home for four years, and the experience was absolutely dreadful. What began with promises, kind words, and supposed personalized attention ended up being a situation of covert neglect. We were constantly assured that he was well-adjusted, that he participated in activities, and that he had an active social life, something that, over time, became clear was not true. As soon as I changed my visiting hours due to work, the reality came to light: when he was supposed to be in the gym or participating in activities, I would find him alone and locked in his room. Every time I asked for explanations, the response was always the same: excuses, evasions, and no one taking responsibility. The lack of support staff was obvious and alarming. They were overwhelmed, and the residents were the ones who suffered the consequences. The management, far from seeking solutions, simply justified their clearly deficient management. The disorganization was total, especially regarding clothing: it was constantly being lost. I even went into the laundry room and found clothes mixed together in a huge drawer with those of other residents, including items that had been missing for months. The food was very poor quality, and the overall treatment conveyed a sense of utter neglect. All in all, a poorly managed residence, lacking oversight and genuine care for the elderly. It's incomprehensible that a center with this level of operation has a contract with the Community of Madrid.

I'm giving it one star because I can't give it less. My mother had been there since July 2020. At first, everything was fine because she was able to manage on her own. The complications started when she developed a wound on her foot (which the doctor didn't seem to think was important, because when I requested an appointment with a vascular specialist on November 23, 2025, and I told her the appointment was for January 26, 2026, she told me to "don't worry," we'd monitor its progress and manage it with Vaseline and some creams). There are four of us in the family, and we all work, so we would visit her in the afternoon, and they wouldn't show us her bandaged feet to avoid having to work twice. They also gave us the excuse that she was being treated with special bandages. On January 8, 2026, they notified us that my mother had a necrotic toe. We went to the emergency room, and the vascular surgeon told us she had little more than a month to live because she had no blood flow from her groin and there was nothing that could be done (she passed away on February 4, 2026). We had a meeting on January 13, 2026, with the director and her entire team (I don't know why they even went, since she wouldn't let them speak). The director was like a bull, attacking us from the very beginning and talking over us to prevent us from answering the questions we were asking the other staff members, not her. One of them was, "When did you realize my mother's finger was necrotic?" and the answer was the day before. We can play dumb, but we're not stupid... a finger doesn't become necrotic overnight without going through several stages. My mother died screaming in agony because the Vascular doctor's recommendations weren't followed (all the necessary medication to alleviate her suffering, gentle, non-abrasive dressings). The director boasted that the residence had everything they needed to medicate her, so how could my mother be screaming so heart-wrenchingly? The doctor gave me the answer: she was being given paracetamol. Even without being a doctor, I don't consider this appropriate for relieving the pain of open wounds, especially when the nurse, Teresita, was applying extremely abrasive dressings and tightening the bandages as much as possible. I'm disappointed with the entire team, from the first to the last. I would only spare the morning shift assistants in the Canary Islands unit because they were the only ones who knew how to care for my mother (to the extent they were allowed to) and for me, helping me with everything the other incompetent staff washed their hands of. I need to tell the Director that the hard work doesn't begin when a daughter breaks down after being told her mother will die in a month. The hard work begins with organizing how to ensure the resident doesn't suffer and being attentive to her needs. It means not lying repeatedly without taking measures to prevent my mother from falling out of bed, despite my demands; not lying when they say the family is kept informed of everything, when on several occasions I've had to find out my mother had a urinary tract infection from relatives who came to visit; and not letting a 92-year-old woman die screaming because of the poor care she's receiving. I'll leave the issue of clothing and room cleaning for later, along with many other things.

I absolutely loved Dani Alarcón's performance today!! Without a doubt, the best of all the performances. The singer's way of treating the residents and their families was spectacular. Hats off to him, and I hope he performs again soon!!! And a big shout-out to the occupational therapists, Marta and Lorena, who brought this wonderful performance to life!!!!

We are delighted with the care our family member received in his final months of life. An excellent team of people, the close and caring treatment of residents and family members. We have nothing but words of gratitude.

Dani Alarcon's performance was fantastic. I hope we can enjoy him in future performances. The residents had a great time. Thanks, Lorena!
