It was founded by Cardinal Don Íñigo López de Mendoza in 1535, as corroborated by the inscription and the coat of arms of this Bishop of Coria (1523-1528), existing just above the main façade of the Hospital which, located outside the walls, was dedicated to helping the poor and pilgrims. A doorway that shows a semicircular entrance arch configured by thick voussoirs carved in stone, the whole set being framed by a frame, like an alfiz, by two Tuscan columns with fluted shafts and a closing lintel based on grooves.
