My sister-in-law Pepi is about to celebrate her first year at Ballesol Badalona, and she's doing quite well, actually. We came from another care home in Badalona, and things didn't work out very well there, so we chose Ballesol based on recommendations from friends and because we liked the facilities when we visited. The change has been positive because she's settled in much better. She does things she didn't do at the other place; for example, now she plays bingo and even joined in for a while at the booth they set up outside for Sant Jordi's Day. She seems much more cheerful and has even made friends. We're very happy with this positive change, and having her closer to home is also a plus. It's worth mentioning that the caregivers are very kind and the receptionists are very attentive. The rest of the staff are also very pleasant; we've already had a meeting to see how my sister-in-law is adjusting, and we were able to meet several of them. The downside of the care home is that my sister-in-law has complained a few times about the food, saying she sometimes doesn't like what they serve her at lunchtime, but it seems they offer her other options. Also, since she's diabetic, she can't eat everything because it makes her blood sugar levels unstable, but she struggles to understand this. Having worked in the kitchens of care homes, I understand that the food isn't going to be like home cooking; there are many people there, and they can't eat everything due to their specific needs. There are many factors to consider, but I've seen what they serve her, and the food is decent. By the way, the stall they set up for Sant Jordi's Day with their crafts was excellent; they were very happy. These kinds of initiatives are fantastic for them.

They don't know what respect for the elderly is. My uncle spent exactly one year in this residence. He was admitted to the hospital several times, malnourished and dehydrated. He passed away two weeks ago. Paco, RIP. It won't stay that way.
