Opiniones

Today I visited that nursing home. First visit, first impression: they are alone. Several elderly people, alone, sleeping on the sofas in the hallways—heartbreaking. No one paid them any attention; they weren't bothering anyone, no one called them for meals, even though it was lunchtime. The first thing I noticed upon entering the residence was a smell that indicated a lack of cleanliness. I really wanted to see more cleanliness. They showed us the bathrooms, and the unbearable smell of urine was clear—the lack of continuous cleaning is what those communal bathrooms need. It's shameful. What I could tell was that there are no activities or opportunities to interact, and little to no dialogue or conversation with the women who live there. From bed to the living room to watch TV, from there to the dining room, from the dining room back to the living room—some of them, others taking a nap, then an afternoon snack, and then back to sitting until dinner and then back to bed to sleep. There were some women, daughters or sisters, and a husband or two, serving food. My impression: they are very lonely. Quite a few staff, though not enough, running around aimlessly, with no specific tasks. And noise, lots of noise; it's anything but peaceful. Furthermore, I asked what breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea consisted of, and the same social worker told me, "I take it as coffee with milk and biscuits or a Valencian pastry." And I said, "Excuse me, you're saying 'I take it as much'?" You can't tell me what they have for breakfast? Can't you tell me if they have toast with ham or fresh cheese? You're telling me Valencian pastries? Ma'am, 3400 euros, in a shared room—quite mystical, by the way—the beds are ancient, and you charge the residents 0.75 euros per bottle of water, since you provide them with pitchers of tap water in the dining room. Incidentally, you showed me the dining room before the second meal shift; all the tables were set, but you hadn't swept up the bread and food scraps from the first shift. Honestly, I came home feeling awful. They're not furniture; they're people.

A very sad place. With many people in wheelchairs parked against the wall, alone. It's a real shame. The staff is friendly, but I think it needs a lot more staff. I don't consider it a nursing home. More like a home for the mentally ill and underserved.

  • Asociación Abuelos Con-Sentidos

Abuelos Con-sentidos is a non-profit organization that provides support in care homes, offering companionship, assisting with recreational activities, and promoting cultural spaces for the residents' healthy enjoyment. I'd like to share our positive experience with their staff; they have always been kind, and their psychologist, Yaisa, and social worker, Pilar, have worked very closely with us, guiding us every step of the way, all focused on improving the well-being of the elderly residents. We are proud to contribute to the emotional well-being and provide love to our loved ones.

A place with very kind and warm nursing assistants who are friendly to the grandparents, with good treatment and the facilities in good condition. I would like to highlight the assistant Micael Ramirez, a young man with great professional ethics and dedication to his work, very friendly and well-liked.

One garden is for smokers and the other is infested with mosquitoes. For what they charge, the maintenance of the premises leaves something to be desired, the pool is not used and the food is mediocre. I had my father for 4 months, he entered in good condition and began to deteriorate, which neither the medical service nor their dedicated assistant informed me about, nor did they take any measures. I had to follow them. In the face of such negligence, I changed his residence and on the first day of being in the new one, the medical service noticed the abnormal deterioration and ended up admitted to the hospital. At the previous residence, his condition seemed normal to them or they didn't care.
