Opiniones

My father was hospitalized for a month, and that month was a constant source of disappointment and frustration. From the very first day, the problems began: his personal clothing frequently disappeared. Sometimes he wore his own clothes, and other times, clothes that clearly belonged to someone else. New items we had brought for him vanished after a single use, and other garments were never even worn, despite being stored in his wardrobe. It was complete chaos. After my father passed away, we went to collect the clothes they claimed were being washed, and they returned them to us dirty, faded, and smelling awful. I consider the lack of care and humanity they showed at that time unacceptable. My father, despite having lost his hearing, was fully conscious. We specifically requested that he be informed before being moved or any other action being taken with him, but our instructions were ignored. They moved him from one place to another without explanation, simply pushing his wheelchair, which only caused him more confusion. They placed a pressure-relieving mattress on him, but the motor made a constant and annoying noise. We mentioned it several times, requesting that the motor be moved to the foot of the bed since he felt a constant vibration, but we received no response. Finally, after a week without any solutions, we, the family, had to make the change ourselves. When we asked for an explanation, they insensitively replied that "since he had gone deaf, it didn't matter." On another occasion, my father arrived with his feet bandaged, and no one informed us. I had to go myself to ask what had happened. Communication with the family was nonexistent throughout his entire stay. The deposit was returned after 90 days, as stated in their agreement, but it was deposited into a different account, and as of today, November 13th, we have not received it. Everything went wrong. Furthermore, I cannot recommend this residence. The experience was deeply disappointing and painful.

They privatized the management of the residence, the Albertia group took over, and everything is going downhill fast. The neglect of our elderly residents is getting worse and worse. You can't have only four caregivers for 60-70 elderly people. It's clear that Albertia only cares about money. The neglect is increasing, and that's not a desirable end to life for our parents. I certainly wouldn't recommend this center. As soon as I can, I'm taking my mother out of there.

My mother has been at the residence for a year now, and I want to thank the new director, Laura, and the new team of supervisors for the positive changes everything is making. The residence is much nicer, the residents are better cared for, and we families finally feel heard. See you at the carnival party! I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

We chose this residence after a conversation with the social worker. In an initial interview, we detailed our father's current situation: he suffers from Parkinson's disease and early-stage dementia, with episodes of aggression and behavioral problems. We emphasized this because our intention from the beginning was to tell the truth, 'uncensored,' to avoid problems and what later happened: his expulsion from the residence. Facilities: It's understandable that it's old, but it's incomprehensible that it's not adapted for people with reduced mobility. Upon arrival, with the room supposedly ready for us, we discovered that neither the electrical outlets nor the automatic bed-folding mechanism worked. Even worse, the bathroom wasn't adapted either, notably the slippery floor, so much so that we ended up putting down mats for added safety. Staff: -The best: The social worker. While her work can be improved, we value her commitment and helpfulness. -The worst: The director. We were surprised that the day we went to speak with her, she didn't even know our father's name. Doesn't a director know who enters or leaves her facility? What she did do one day after our father returned from the hospital was repeatedly pressure him to sign the paperwork leaving the residence of his own volition ("If you want to leave, all you have to do is sign here," was the director's insistent refrain). Fortunately, our mother was witnessing what was happening, and the director decided to back down (we think more out of embarrassment than anything else, for sure). It wasn't even her, but the social worker, who acted as an intermediary so we could find another residence. -Nurses: We appreciate their help towards my father; they treated him well. -Conclusion: His health deteriorated drastically over the weeks to the point where he completely lost his mind. How did they proceed? Frequent emergency admissions, calls to the family to resolve the problem, and then leaving our father locked on the third floor, wandering aimlessly and completely disoriented. We also have evidence that there may have been a mix-up when administering his medication. Personally, we are very disappointed that they decided to admit our father without having the necessary resources. The problem is always easy to solve: expel the patient.

My mother is a resident at this care home, and I have nothing but praise for them. The care is excellent, and above all, they provide such loving and compassionate attention, which is what I've appreciated most. Special mention goes to Pilar, who is an exceptional person; Belén, who is lovely and very professional; and Isidra, who treats the residents like family. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.
