Opiniones

I'd like to share my mother's experience. She's been at the residence for several months, and what she appreciates most is the food. It's very well-cooked, and the menu is varied. She's also very happy with the physiotherapy service, especially with Cristian and Ivan. They're excellent professionals. And she appreciates Amaya's support with psychology... Overall, the facilities are clean, the staff is courteous, there's a pleasant atmosphere, and countless recreational activities to break up the monotony of a typical residence. Bingo, musical performances, film screenings, a small library... With Carlos and Paula. Signed: Rancaño. Overall

We're not giving it a lower rating because it's simply not possible, even though it's an expensive care home. The cleaning is poor, and medication isn't administered correctly, which is especially serious in a facility of this type. It's not a suitable residence for dependent individuals. They can take up to 7 hours to change a diaper, even when the resident requests it and there's a medical report indicating more frequent changes due to severe diaper rash. Furthermore, communication between departments is very poor, which sometimes results in residents not being taken to scheduled activities. In short, a very negative experience and not at all recommended for people who require continuous care and attention. We took my mother out of there as soon as we could; she didn't even last a month.

I want to share my experience with this care home through the case of my 92-year-old grandmother, which has been profoundly negative for both her and our entire family. My grandmother entered the care home voluntarily, in perfect cognitive condition. The reason was that she needed 24-hour care after dislocating her hip, which left her completely paralyzed from being able to walk. The initial welcome was impeccable: a seemingly well-coordinated team, full of kindness and affection. Unfortunately, that image vanished within days. They didn't help her walk, and she spent the entire day sitting in a chair in a lounge, except for her physiotherapy days. The night shift is appalling. When we rang the call button, they only came sporadically. We thought it might be a technical glitch, but we checked and it was working perfectly: they simply didn't come. I even had to call reception in the middle of the night to request assistance in her room. They would leave my grandmother "parked" in the hallway for over an hour after dinner, alone, waiting to be put to bed, which caused her anxiety and fear. But the most painful thing for my grandmother was the disappearance of some earrings with enormous sentimental value, inherited from my great-grandmother and several generations of my family, which happened during the night shift. This left her emotionally devastated. In less than a month, we had to take her out due to very serious leg wounds (which she already had when she arrived), and she almost developed gangrene in her leg, which should have received more attention and treatment. The only redeeming qualities were the kitchen service and the cleaning. However, I do not recommend this residence to anyone looking for dignified treatment for their loved one.

If you love your family member, don't leave them there. Some days when you go to pick them up, it's 10:45 and they haven't had breakfast. And the facilities? Dirty rooms, hallways with an unbearable smell. We know it's a senior center, but that doesn't mean it should smell so bad. The staff's initial welcome is completely different from their daily interactions. There's a lack of communication with the family. Some days there's no food, and you see the caregivers running from one hallway to another looking for it, or they take it from the sample they have at the entrance. Overall, bad, very bad.

My mother has been at Amavir Villanueva for two and a half years and my father for three months, and it has been a great choice. They have been well cared for, adapted very well, and have a great technical team (director, social worker, psychologist, physiotherapists, therapists, and sociocultural facilitator), as well as assistants and coordinators. Our assessment has been positive; the medical and nursing team have closely monitored my mother, and she has not been hospitalized during her entire time there. It is a center for person-centered, restraint-free care, pioneering and with a strong focus on the well-being of seniors, which is not encouraged in other centers. There are always things that could be improved, as in all nursing homes; problems are common and constant, but overall, our assessment has been very positive.
