SUBJECT: Complaint Regarding Improper Use of Community Container and Public Health Issue Dear Sir/Madam: I am writing to report a recurring situation that is seriously affecting hygiene and community life in our neighborhood. Across the street from my building is the Amavir La Marina nursing home, on Avenida de Catalunya, and we have observed on numerous occasions that staff members from the facility are depositing the home's waste in the container located in our building, instead of using their own, which are located a few meters away on the same side of the street. The problem worsens when the container fills up and used diapers and other organic waste from the nursing home end up falling onto the ground, generating foul odors, a health hazard, and a deplorable image in the street. I request that urgent measures be taken to: • Prevent the nursing home from misusing the community's containers. • Ensure that medical and organic waste is managed according to current regulations. • Ensure the immediate cleanup of the area when these spills occur. I trust that this matter will be addressed with the seriousness it deserves, as it is a public health issue and a matter of respect for the neighbors. I await your response and the actions that will be taken. Reply to your response: It is true that the bins belong to the city council. But that does not give you the right to leave soiled diapers in the street, as well as used gloves and other waste. Regarding hospital waste, I have photos of how you throw it into the street containers, RED containers that are full of chemical waste products that require different handling than usual. What you are doing to the neighbors reflects very poorly on you and your residence. I have photos taken after speaking with you, and while it's true that it doesn't happen every day and not with all employees, your uncivil behavior continues. Your commitment to your residents is all well and good. But so is your consideration for others.

Good morning, my mother has been in this residence for a short time. The center itself is fine, a little far from the metro and commuter trains, but in the city center it seems fine. My mother, as is normal, is finding it difficult to adapt, but little by little.

I'm giving it one star because I can't give it a zero. This nursing home's treatment of the elderly who live there is appalling. My grandmother has passed away, and I don't know what mystery they have with the upper floors, why haven't they let us go up to collect her belongings? Not to mention that they always kept her dirty, they took her off medication without having to, so her geriatrician had to call to see what's happening with her medication, not to mention that they want to make them dependent all the time. My grandmother could walk and they brought her down in a wheelchair. We've had all kinds of experiences in this care home because, luckily or unluckily, there are several healthcare professionals in the family. In a matter of two months, they fell on them several times, breaking ribs, collarbones, and, last time, their noses. I think they're very unprofessional, and they don't know how to treat family members either. I wouldn't recommend this nursing home even to my worst enemy, because it's like leading them to the slaughter.

My mother has been living in this nursing home for three months. We are very happy with the staff, the way they treat seniors, and the freedom with which you can move around the building. One of these spaces is the large garden in the back. Its trees, the sound of birds, all of this contributes to the quality of life for dependent people who cannot leave the grounds on their own. Likewise, it also provides a sense of companionship for family members. For all the positive aspects of having such a space, I have to say it's a shame it's so neglected and that they don't dedicate the time and resources to its care and maintenance. Other family members share the same opinion. They've been there longer, and it seems it's not a one-time issue. I would like to make a suggestion that the garden be taken care of, as everyone agrees is a hallmark of Residencia La Marina.

My assessment is absolutely terrible, starting with the most basic care, such as showering, changing diapers, and not using double diapers, since in the Community of Madrid this is considered elder abuse. They brought my grandmother downstairs with double diapers more than once, even though she was perfectly continent. The biggest problem we've had is that we couldn't communicate with her due to her medical conditions. She entered the facility physically independent, although with cognitive impairment; otherwise, she wouldn't have been there, and they made her dependent. The hospital has produced several reports from the geriatrics department stating that my grandmother was much more independent than the nursing home wanted us to believe. There was a time when they insisted she couldn't drink water without thickener, even though she swallowed perfectly well, and she refused to drink it that way, resulting in several instances of dehydration. We bought her so many clothes, so she'd have winter, summer, and seasonal outfits, but they always took her downstairs in the same clothes, or clothes from other residents, and she'd lose her belongings (watches, bracelets she received as gifts during visiting hours, slippers, t-shirts, nightgowns, etc.). Besides, they left my grandmother's clothes the size of Barbie clothes. You also can't go up to check your relative's room and see the condition of her belongings unless you give them days' notice; it must be to hide how they keep everything. The facilities outside are appalling, and the way they treat the dependent residents is appalling. They even took my grandmother downstairs when she was having a stroke without telling us anything or paying any attention to her. We had to go down ourselves to say that my grandmother was showing signs of a stroke, and then they activated the protocol, and you, who are supposed to be the professional, took her down, even though she was having the stroke and you didn't even realize it was happening. She's had to be hospitalized several times due to the terrible care they provide, their lack of attention to the patients, etc. The only good thing I can say about that residence is Valentín, who works at reception. The treatment my family received from the morning doctor and the management was shameful. In short, I don't have a single good word to say about that place.
