Opiniones

My father-in-law has received excellent care and attention. He's been attending the day center for two months now and seems very satisfied with the treatment he receives and enjoys the activities. He attends every day without fail and always comes back in a great mood. Our family is very pleased with their professionalism and care.

My grandfather's experience was very positive. They cared for him with great affection until the very end. He always said he loved the food, and the facilities are perfect and very welcoming, with lovely green spaces.

I visited the Altanova Residence and Day Center, and my overall impression is quite good. The building is located in a quiet area of Barcelona, at Calle Quatre Camins 95 in Sant Gervasi-la Bonanova, which gives it a calm atmosphere. The facilities are quite comprehensive: gardens/terraces, lounges, a library, a gym, etc. According to their own description, they offer "gardens and terraces," "lounges," and "floors and dining areas differentiated by level of dependency." It's clear that the care provided isn't just basic; there are services designed for people with more complex needs: rehabilitation, physiotherapy, a specialized dementia unit, and so on. The staff-to-resident ratio is good: for example, "6 employees for every 10 residents" is stated on the information sheet. There is good transparency in the information provided, from indicative rates to specific services. As with many centers of this type, the price can be quite high depending on the room and services. According to the listing: “from €2,826/month” for certain options. If I had to give it a rating, I'd say it's a solid option for seniors looking for a well-maintained residential environment with robust care services and a pleasant atmosphere. It's not “the cheapest option,” but it seems to offer a respectable all-rounder in its category. If I had to add anything, I'd say that for families, it's best to schedule a personal visit, speak with residents/family members, see the room, check exactly what's included, and clarify the visiting conditions, extra services, etc.

I absolutely do not recommend this residence. The treatment my father received was appalling; it was a two-month ordeal until we were finally able to move him. The director was incredibly attentive upon admission, but it was all a facade for the money. He might be okay as a salesman, but not as a director! He hides when there are problems—a cowardice I simply cannot comprehend. I say this because after my father went missing in the same residence, they didn't activate any protocols or even search for him. When he wasn't in his room at bedtime, they assumed he wasn't there! And he had eaten dinner there at 8 pm. Supposedly, there's a record of the residents' entire routine (a lie). The lack of organization is appalling. They called my sister the next day at 9 am asking if he was with her because he wasn't at the residence. How is that possible? When my sister arrived, a cleaning lady had just found him in a room that was under construction. He spent the entire night there! Disoriented, shivering from the cold, and utterly distraught, my father has Alzheimer's and dementia, and this residence is completely unsuitable for people with these conditions (no matter how many certificates they have hanging in the reception area). Furthermore, in the two months he's been here, they haven't administered his medication correctly, he hardly does any activities, he's always sitting in the dining room, mostly asleep in his chair, and the morning schedule is a complete mess. One day they'd wake him up at 7, another day at 8, and other days later. With these illnesses, it's important to maintain routines, do activities, etc. It's a complete organizational disaster. I chose this residence believing my father would be well cared for, and how wrong I was. I deeply regret putting him here and putting him through all of this these past two months. Thankfully, we've moved him now. I don't recommend it, especially not for people with illnesses like my father's.
