Opiniones

I'm giving it one star because it's the minimum I can. What I've seen, experienced, and heard on the occasions I've visited a relative has been truly distressing. The management of this center is appalling. There's insufficient staff; those who work there do the best they can, but the staff shortage is glaringly obvious. The meals are like a mess hall. Intermittent fasting is mandatory since more than 12 hours pass between dinner and breakfast. This residence is designed solely to make money, not to care for our elderly as the (misleading) advertising claims. It's the last place I'd want to spend my final days. NOT RECOMMENDED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

The worst thing that could have happened to my grandmother was being bedridden unnecessarily, without any explanation, while waiting for supposed assessments from supposedly qualified staff. And let it be known that I am a healthcare professional, as I am a physiotherapist. When we took her to the doctor after a month and a week in bed with a fever of 39 degrees Celsius (and let it be known that the internal medicine doctor recommended sitting her up, but they decided to put her in bed because it was their policy, for a 95-year-old woman), we discovered a stage 4 ulcer on her sacrum two weeks ago. This ulcer was incurable in the hospital, and we had to sedate her to prevent her suffering. The suffering they put us through these past two weeks until she passed away was horrific. Of course, I would not recommend this hospital, aside from the emotional and psychological pain they caused us. My poor grandmother is now at peace, but she only spent 4 months at this center before dying, without physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or anything to allow her to continue with the same therapies as at the day center where she previously went.

My sister is in this care home because we are unable to care for her at home. We chose it because we were told it was the best in Badajoz. The management isn't taking any responsibility... In August, my family and I noticed that she was missing her lower dentures. We asked what had happened, and nobody knew anything! One of the answers we received was that this happened occasionally, but the staff never realized that she was having trouble swallowing because of the missing dentures. When I contacted the management, they told me they have a box of dentures because this happened frequently... The director told me there is liability insurance that covers the costs of replacing the dentures. We have to handle all the paperwork ourselves: make an appointment with the dentist, go to the office, and pay for the prosthetics. The care home should be responsible for the entire process since it was their negligence. Absolutely not. We paid the expenses, and four months have passed, and they still haven't reimbursed us. When I contacted the management, the director told me it was being processed and that it usually takes three months for them to pay. When I've had an accident at home and the insurance has had to cover expenses, they've paid immediately. They do, however, religiously process the bill on the first of every month. When he was admitted, all his clothes were marked, and a few days later, they started going missing. The worst part isn't that they get lost, it's that the missing clothes never turn up. We decided not to have his clothes washed at the center; we bring them home. Even so, and despite having signs in the room asking people not to wash his clothes, they do, and they disappear! I've written countless emails demanding the clothes back, and the response is... the clothes are never recovered. The room cleaning... the bedside table is barely touched, it hasn't been moved in months, and consequently, it's never cleaned. A magazine has been sitting behind it for months. And a pill... even longer, despite telling the director. The wheelchair that accompanies my sister all day is "showered," not washed, and the food scraps and vomit aren't cleaned. On several occasions, we've had to ask them to clean it because it's embarrassing to see it so filthy. We've also had to ask them to wash her fingernails because they were black. There's a staff shortage on the wards. The aides do what they can. They can't put my sister in a reclining chair after breakfast because it would mean putting her back in the wheelchair at lunchtime. They can't do that because there are too many residents... that's the answer I got when I suggested putting her in the reclining chair so she wouldn't spend so many hours in the wheelchair. We had to resort to a "medical prescription" to get her to take a nap, given her condition, and... Is this what they call looking after the residents' well-being and providing personalized care? The lamp on her bedside table has been broken for days. We had to ask them to fix it because no one had, and it was in danger of falling on her head. The wardrobe handle broke, and the same thing happened: we had to open our roommate's wardrobe door to close my sister's. The center has been without a service we had contracted and paid for for months: a doctor. At no point have they deducted from the bill the cost of the doctor's in-person visits, as they should have. Getting a phone conversation with the director is "mission impossible." Her exact words were, "I can't answer all the calls from the family members." I've been waiting for her to call me back... I could go on, but I'll stop for now. I don't think they'll respond by telling me they're available to help me resolve the issue and improve communication with families.

To the Management of the Residence: I hereby wish to file a formal complaint regarding the serious lack of care and inadequate treatment suffered by the resident under my care at this facility. During her stay at the residence, there have been repeated instances of negligence, including: Insufficient staff, resulting in clearly inadequate care. Failure to answer the doorbell, leaving the resident unattended for hours. Remaining in undignified conditions all day, including being soiled with urine and feces, without staff coming to clean her. Lack of medical attention, as the resident did not receive the necessary care when she was ill, nor was the family properly informed. Complete lack of information provided to family members regarding the resident's actual condition and any incidents that occurred. These situations constitute a serious violation of the resident's dignity, well-being, and basic rights, as well as a breach of the care obligations incumbent upon this facility. Therefore, I request: A written explanation of the events described. The immediate implementation of corrective measures, especially regarding staffing and care protocols. A guarantee that situations of this type will not be repeated.

On behalf of the entire family, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the whole team at the DomusVi residence for the love and dedication with which they cared for my mother, Isabel. Knowing that she was in the hands of such attentive professionals has given us great peace of mind. Thank you for your patience and empathy. We will always be grateful!
