My mother has been at the Residencia del Carmen in Gijón for six months now. Due to a broken hip, I had to move her to another residence to be closer to my home. I'm lucky to have found a place at this residence. It's always very difficult for us to find a place where we feel the person we love is well cared for. Many emotions come into play, but finding a place at this residence has been a stroke of luck. From the very beginning, both the Director Constantino, a friendly person who is always willing to inform and help where possible, always thinking about improvements for the residents, and the receptionist Cristina, always greeting us with a smile and her good work, as well as the rest of the staff Ángeles, Arancha, Eloy. I'm sorry I can't remember all the names, because the truth is that there hasn't been a single one on the staff that I can say has a bad face, and if they're having a bad day, I haven't noticed it. Quite the contrary, they are willing, kind, and affectionate, showing affection to the elderly, with physical contact and kisses, something the elderly appreciate so much. It's a great family, they listen and do their best to create a good atmosphere, there's a good organization, and a variety of activities. Congratulations on that great Carmen Day party, where my mother, my children, and I had a great time. My 12-year-old children have told me they really like this home. They feel at ease and see their grandmother being well cared for. The first day we arrived, they told me, "Mom, this home smells so good." Thank you to the entire team: the assistants (those closest to the elderly, for their dedication, care, and effort), the hairdresser (a lovely and attentive person), the doctor, nurses, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, management, reception, cleaning staff... for making something as difficult as leaving the person we love in your hands easier.

Excellent facilities and a good team with a very caring and compassionate approach to the residents. A wonderful meeting with families on the day of Carmen required great effort and dedication from the staff, resulting in a memorable day and a fond memory for all who attended. Congratulations on a job well done.

I grew up passing by the El Carmen Sanatorium almost every day, which over time became a nursing home. Every year on El Carmen Day, we heard the music from our house, and sometimes we would look out, half in amazement and half in amusement, from the wall on Cienfuegos Street. I never thought that one day my father would be residing there, and I would be accompanying him on that day. This has been my first "Carmen from within," after many "from without." I want to thank all of you who have made this festival possible, behind which you can see a lot of work, a lot of enthusiasm, and a lot of love. My father has been living there for barely two months, and although he sarcastically calls it "the cage," it's certainly an "atypical cage." At El Carmen, residents can go out to dinner, lunch, or whatever with family and friends and break schedules, which is very welcome since it helps maintain routines and traditions, relax for a while without looking at the clock (a malicious artifact), and maintain a certain sense of freedom. It's still too early for my father to feel "home" there, but I hope that over time he'll feel as comfortable as he does in his own home. I hope so!

Every gesture, every detail, and every smile matters. And at a certain age, even more so. Those smiles are the ones our elders give us at the residence when we visit them, and the ones we receive daily from the center's amazing team of professionals. One thing leads to another. Respect, tenderness, affection, and joy are hallmarks of the place, and it shows. So, we can only express our deepest gratitude for making El Carmen a second home, full of life, for our loved ones. Thank you!
