My mother spent a few months at Gijón Hospital. When she arrived, she was very ill. For months, the entire team at the center (doctors, speech therapist, nutritionist, physiotherapists, nursing and support staff, and center administrators) did a fantastic job of her recovery and care. Today, my mother has recovered most of her limitations, has full functional independence, and has been able to return home, which is what she wanted. We are all (starting with my mother) deeply grateful for the combination of professionalism and compassion shown by the team at Gijón Hospital, two essential ingredients for facing demanding recovery processes without losing heart and motivation. I would definitely recommend the center to anyone I know who finds themselves in our situation.

I want to thank all the staff for the excellent care my father received from the moment he entered this care home. Especially the staff on the third floor for their kindness and care when his family could no longer provide it. Thank you so much for everything.

Calling this a hospital is a joke. I don't know why the administration allows it. When I admitted my relative, I already knew what was going on, but I thought they would receive more individualized care focused on their rehabilitation. In the end, the treatment was barely adequate, to put it mildly. My relative arrived from the Red Cross after hip surgery. They had quite advanced dementia. The post-operative instructions clearly stated that they needed assistance with walking, a soft chair with proper knee support, and a pressure-relieving mattress. They were extremely thin, all skin and bones. Well, they put them in a rigid chair, the hardest one they could find, without armrests. After numerous complaints to the doctor and discussions with management, they provided her with a terrible wheelchair with flat tires, because it was the only one they had with armrests, and according to them, it had to be hard (regardless of the prescriptions from the Red Cross, the hospital I went to again to consult, and they reaffirmed the initial instructions for my relative's specific case). They didn't provide the pressure-relieving mattress, disregarding my relative's specific needs. After multiple visits to the doctor, they finally said they would provide it at my own risk. And forget about taking her for walks with assistance. They practically never took her out during her entire stay there. I should also mention that my relative was receiving daily rehabilitation from the Red Cross, and at the Gijón "Hospital," it took them a week to see a physiotherapist, and after that, I believe it was only two hours a week. The doctors were reading the newspaper in their offices, and a different one each day. The single room was fine, but it had a tiny window overlooking a tiny interior courtyard. It felt incredibly oppressive. The staff were just okay, the nursing assistants were unmotivated, and the nurses were fickle and full of empty promises. And to top it all off, all that TERRIBLE "Hospital" service was charged at an exorbitant price. Of course, we ended up moving our relative as soon as we found another spot in a care home. That was my experience. BE CAREFUL ABOUT PUTTING ANYONE HERE.

When I entered this center, I was very excited and motivated. Expecting something very different in terms of recovery and everything else... I'm not speaking on behalf of others, but on my own. I was right at home, lying down, nothing more. At no point did the rehabilitation doctor come to see me... When they made mistakes with the medication, instead of an apology, they felt offended and annoyed. The food aspect leaves a lot to be desired. So much so that one night I had a slice of bread for dinner, a slice of ham, and another of cheese. Another night of starvation, and so on... Of course, they know the drill, but to say that it's an external company, everything is taken care of. In short, the word "hospital" is too much for them!

They've been caring for my father for a year, and from day one, Dr. Torres has been a great support and a wonderful doctor. You can ask him any questions and he explains every detail he sees with my father every day, because he or whoever is on call visits him every day. Excellent treatment and support during difficult times. Good facilities and good food tailored to his needs. In addition, he provides regular reports for both me and the various doctors he has to see outside. I have nothing but words of gratitude for Dr. Torres.
