Opiniones

To begin, I'd like to say that my mother has been here for three years. The facilities are very good, and the building is new. I must highlight the kindness and care that the caregivers, nurses, doctor, social worker, and psychologist show our elderly residents. However, it's a complete mess. All the families, in addition to paying the full fee, have to bring food for our relatives: cheese, ham, protein yogurts, coffee, cans of tuna, pineapple, decent bananas, and soft bread so they can make little sandwiches with what we bring. It's embarrassing to see us all walking in with our bags of food. They provide a variety of foods, but they're inedible. The pasta is overcooked, the rice is mushy, the empanadas are frozen, and the seafood salads are half-thawed and practically swimming in water. Sometimes burnt, sometimes raw. We had a meeting with management and with a gentleman who came from Emera. Nothing has changed. The food is inedible. And no one who knows the center from the inside can ever dispute this because even the caregivers themselves say, "Is this edible?", even though they're not to blame. We're all unhappy about this issue; we've protested about this and other things, and they don't listen to us. There have been many assaults on residents and staff by a man with Alzheimer's who wasn't being properly supervised. We're fighting them and we will continue to do so. We don't think there's enough staff; the caregivers themselves say so, and we see them overwhelmed. They can't complain because they've been told where the door is. And that's why there are new, itinerant staff members every so often, who don't provide any security for the center. I'm very sorry, but the management of this center is not good. This is the opinion of a majority of residents, and we even have signatures from them.

This is my first time writing a review, but this care home and its staff deserve it. My relative moved in 10 months ago. We especially appreciate how well they treat her, with the same kind of affection we, her family, give. The staff always greet you with a smile; you can tell they are truly dedicated. I understand they have hired more staff than necessary, and the organization is excellent. My congratulations to Emera Cartagena, keep up the good work! 💙💪🏻

I highly recommend this residence. My sister has lived there for over a year. I live far away and can't visit as often as I'd like, but when I do, I find her happy and in great company. She's made good friends and feels very comfortable. We wanted the best for her, and we weren't wrong. I don't understand the negative reviews. It's a private residence; if you don't like it, go somewhere else. I, personally, am very proud that she's there. My mother-in-law lived in another residence, and there's no comparison.

My brother just wrote, and I'm writing too, to support this company. Through their daily efforts, they've helped my mother's health improve, and we, her children, can feel more at ease and confident knowing she's in good hands. We searched extensively, and this residence feels like a hotel—bright, clean, spacious, comfortable, and most importantly, staffed with a warm, personal touch. The meals are homemade, just like home cooking. My mother and I ate at the residence in November, and the menu was delicious. Victoria, the director, answered all our questions immediately. I highly recommend it, and thank you all so much for your work.

A very negative and worrying experience. In the unit where my relative was housed, a violent resident shares space with other residents who are highly dependent and unable to defend themselves. This resident hits, spits, gets into other residents' beds, and has seriously assaulted several others. My relative has Alzheimer's and is almost 92 years old. For defending other residents, he was moved to a different unit, which has severely destabilized him, affecting his health and well-being. We have submitted signatures from family members and residents requesting a solution, but there has been no response or action from the management. Furthermore, as a family, we have spoken directly with the center's management, and the situation remains unchanged. A violent resident is being prioritized over the safety and dignity of the other residents, who live in fear. In addition, the services are deficient: low-quality food, clothes lost in the laundry, and a broken toilet in his room that has been there for months with a puddle in the middle. I would not recommend this center to any family looking for a safe place for their elderly relatives.
