Opiniones

I've known this residence for years. I stay here fairly often. And, based on what I can see from an outsider's perspective and very specific details, I think the quality and service have declined. For example, breakfast: they place a tray on a trolley outside the kitchen counter, with a small glass of boxed juice, an apple, a small roll, a few portions of butter and jam, and a cup of coffee with milk; without asking what you want (I, for example, don't drink packaged juice and I drink my coffee black) and barely saying good morning. There isn't even any water to drink! I find this appallingly depersonalizing in a Church institution. That's treating the residents, elderly priests, like a number. Like in prison. Then, recently, a woman of Latin American descent (actually, most of the staff are; it feels like you're in Latin America instead of Madrid) "served" me breakfast. She had a sour, bitter expression, a nasty manner, and a complete lack of education, as if she were doing me a huge favor. Another example: the last time I booked, I made a reservation about a month in advance, and a nun confirmed it. But when I arrived, neither the woman at reception nor another nun with her had any record of it. What if there hadn't been any rooms available? On another occasion, I sent an email requesting a reservation, and days went by without a response; in the end, I had to call. Lots of bureaucracy for booking, but then very little professionalism or service with reservations. Finally, the cleaning staff: they arrive early in the morning, opening—or banging on if you're inside—all the rooms. If reception has a record of your departure date and time, wouldn't it be more logical and sensible for them to check and not wake and disturb you? In short, the management and service leave much to be desired. I feel especially sorry for the elderly priests who have to end their days this way after a lifetime dedicated to the Church. If the Church doesn't care for them with tenderness, everything it does for others will be disingenuous or self-serving.

The person who answers the phone at this residence is rude.

It's still a residence. But it's very clean, and the staff is excellent.

We visited it but ended up taking my relative to a nursing home that was recommended to us on the Miresi website.

A place where priests passing through Madrid can feel at home. THANK YOU!
