Like a hotel, impressed by the place and the staff

My name is Isabel Gil Sánchez. In May 2023, as a result of a serious fall and the terrible worsening of my mother's cognitive decline, we unexpectedly and with little time to make decisions, placed her in a care home. I understand that everyone can have different opinions about the same event or circumstance, but I, who have visited my mother almost daily for nearly three years (alternating visits with my brother), come across reviews that, with all due respect, I simply cannot understand. Our experience at Orpea, now Bouco, has been very, very good, excellent. It's a place where you can go "right into the kitchen" at any time, completely transparent about everything that entails. The treatment we received was exceptional, both personally and professionally, from all the staff, from management to maintenance, including reception and the cafeteria. I must emphasize the affection with which the caregivers treated my mother—I stress, affection—as well as the work of the nurses and doctor, especially in recent times. It is impossible to summarize what I experienced daily for almost three years in a review, so the only thing I can say, if asked, is that, within the hardship of the circumstances due to my mother's illness, my experience has been very positive.

The food is awful. Eating should be a pleasure for everyone, especially for the elderly. At this care home, the food is terrible; the plates are always left overflowing. Older people need to eat well and enjoy their food, and here it's impossible. It's unacceptable that they receive such poor quality food for what they pay. I believe this business should be reported.

Our deepest gratitude to all the staff at the residence, unbeatable treatment, they call you immediately whenever a change arises, they treat the residents and family with much love, great empathy and patience, we will always carry you in our thoughts for the support you gave us when we needed it most.

DISAPPOINTING With three family members admitted to this facility for six months and paying almost €9,000 for the three of them, I can say that what they offer is far from what they actually provide. The food is poor and scarce; the menus hanging in the hallways are NOT what they feed the residents, not even close. Toilet assistance is often NULL, with dirty linens and no change... There is a permanent lack of staff, which means they keep them in bed without being cleaned until 11:00 or later, and then everything is rushed. I insist, there is a shortage of staff. If they get sick, they DON'T let you know, and if they fall, they don't either. You protest, and they ignore you. Special mention to the social worker, Shaila, who is equally incompetent and irresponsible. All she cares about is getting paid at the end of the month, what a shame. Of course, my family members are relocated to other facilities where they receive adequate care. For the record, I'll say that I'm waiting for them to call me to take the satisfaction survey, since they only did one, and it didn't come out well, so they must have made the decision not to call me because of my other two relatives, which is strange to say the least. In short, bad, bad, bad.
