A terrible experience at the Altos Hornos nursing home. My grandmother spent a year there. During that year, she suffered several outbreaks of scabies (at least three) that were poorly treated and didn't go away, multiple episodes of gastroenteritis among all the residents, and a lack of assistance with getting up and walking, which resulted in a hip fracture. She had bruises on her arms and hands on several occasions, and recreational activities were practically nonexistent. She was diagnosed with scabies again at the public hospital where we took her with her broken hip. She was overmedicated: they gave her painkillers and other medications she didn't need. They diagnosed illnesses she didn't have. Visiting hours are very restricted: they hand over family members like a package, trying to prevent families from entering the building... it feels like they want to hide what's happening inside. This nursing home is not recommended at all. Our elderly deserve more dignified care than this company provides. It's worth looking for something better, even if it's a little more expensive.

My mother was admitted to the nursing home last month on my leave, but she didn't get to complete it because she was hospitalized. She has dementia but was able to walk a little with a walker. She was fine for 15 days, then she was admitted due to a blood imbalance—these things happen. However, at the hospital, they found she had three blisters, one on her heel and two on her sides, and quite extensive contact dermatitis. In fact, you could see her dermis, the lower layer of skin, and when she was admitted, her skin was perfect. It's a very short stay for all of that to develop. I repeat, she was mobile, so for all of that to happen in just a few days is not normal. The doctor and the nurse did the right thing by letting me know she looked unwell, but I think the problem with this nursing home is the lack of communication and organization among the staff, and poor practices regarding her skin care and changing her absorbent pads. This nursing home leaves much to be desired, and I work in the sector, so I know what I'm talking about.

My mother will be celebrating her third birthday at the nursing home, and from the beginning, the quality of care she received has been high. Both for her and for my father, who visits her every day. The medical contract has been difficult, but we are currently very satisfied. There has been a change of ownership, and we hope it will be for the better. Best regards, and thank you all.

José Luis Domínguez Lage. My mother lived in this residence, and I have nothing but praise and immense gratitude for all the professionals with whom my mother and I shared this time. The management and the medical team provided a wonderful welcome, and, of course, I must acknowledge all the direct care staff for their kindness, professionalism, and experience in interacting with all the residents. A special mention goes to Sonia for her warmth, professionalism, and resourcefulness in handling any situation that arose. I also recommend this residence for its location, with nearby public transportation, flat terrain perfect for walks, parks, restaurants, supermarkets, and more. 100% Recommended
