Opiniones

My grandmother, who has Alzheimer's and uses a wheelchair because she can't walk due to her condition, started going to this day center. At first, everything was very good, the treatment was excellent, but over time everything changed. She always came with food stains on her clothes, her bottom covered in feces because she wasn't cleaned properly. She fell in the van they transport her in because the chair wasn't properly secured, causing large bruises that left her bedridden for a week. She even said that there were mean people there. Well, now she's come to a place where they've shown us they have no heart. In September, my grandmother had a fall at home, which resulted in a small brain hemorrhage and many bumps and bruises, so she had to be on complete bed rest at home for two weeks. When my grandmother started going to the day center, she stayed for about three weeks. During that time, they told my grandfather that she was constantly sleeping and leaning forward, so they advised her not to go anymore. My grandfather agreed and took her home. To his surprise, they tricked him into signing papers, claiming it was simply to remove my grandmother from the mining company's care. However, this wasn't the case. After a month of my grandmother's absence, a letter arrived from the Andalusian Regional Government stating that my grandfather had waived all the assistance my grandmother received as a highly dependent person (home care, the care center, and the emergency call button). This wasn't what my grandfather actually signed; it was merely notification that my grandmother should no longer attend the center, on their advice. My grandfather then went to the mining company, and they told him it wasn't their fault. The case was taken to the Andalusian regional government and the city council, who confirmed their responsibility, stating that the written statement indicated my grandmother was renouncing all benefits because she was in very poor condition and would die within two days (these are the exact words spoken to my grandfather by the director of the center, who, I should mention, was on vacation when all this happened, and the new director is the one who wrote the statement). They are washing their hands of the matter, and now we are redoing all the paperwork, as by the time they grant her home care assistance again, my grandmother may no longer be alive, since it took two and a half years last time.
