NEGATIVE REVIEW: POOR CARE, NEGLIGENCE, AND ACCESSIBILITY HAZARDS Cáritas Nursing Home: A Place to Avoid RATING: 1/5 Stars (If I could, I would give it 0) My experience with the Cáritas Nursing Home has been absolutely deplorable and, frankly, dangerous to the health and well-being of the residents. My advice is clear: DO NOT admit a family member here. This institution's only priority is collecting payments, while care, humane treatment, and safety are conspicuous by their absence. 1. Facility Hazards and Zero Accessibility It is incomprehensible that a facility for dependent seniors has such unsafe and deficient facilities: Dangerous Accessibility: Wheelchair access is extremely difficult. There are numerous curbs, and the floor has raised and very poor-quality tiles, posing a constant fall hazard. Unusable Ramps: These ramps are so steep that two or three people are required to lift a wheelchair onto the ramp to prevent a fall or serious injury to the caregiver. This is not just an inconvenience; it is an unacceptable safety risk in a facility of this type. Poor Cleaning: Cleaning is superficial and limited to common areas visible to visitors. In the residential areas, the filth and poor condition of the facilities are evident. 2. Nonexistent and Dangerous Medical Care Absent and Inaccessible Doctor: The residential doctor fails to fulfill his or her duties. He or she either does not show up or spends a ridiculously long half-hour, making him or her impossible to reach when needed. Life-Threatening Protocols: In emergencies requiring hospital transfer, an ambulance is not called immediately. An absurd protocol is followed where the doctor (who is not present) must authorize the call. If a patient needs IV fluids or urgent care, the nurses ignore the call ("let the morning shift do it"), demonstrating unacceptable negligence. As a family member, you often have to call the emergency room yourself. Manipulation of Medication Guidelines: Medication changes are made without justification or adequate communication, seemingly for the staff's convenience. This is a serious lack of professionalism. 3. Inhumane Treatment and Lack of Leadership Indifferent and Negligent Caregivers: Most caregivers display a completely disinterested attitude toward the elderly. They ignore basic hygiene and place residents in delicate health directly under the air conditioning, ignoring their needs. Selective Feeding: The distribution of supplements (juice or gelatin) is discriminatory; if the resident is not near them, they are simply not given them, despite the fact that they are intended for everyone. Absent Management and Administrative Hostility: The director lacks leadership or order. The social worker, Ms. Mar, displays a hostile attitude if you, as a family member, inquire about your resident's condition (which is your right), making communication impossible. Instead of transparency, you receive rejection and animosity. In summary: This residence operates with a total lack of transparency, humanity, and quality standards. The facilities are an accident hazard, and medical care is a Russian roulette. It is inconceivable that a place intended for well-being could be so negligent. Look for another option. The health, lives, and safety of residents are at serious risk at Caritas.

The worst nursing home in Segovia. My grandmother was there, and they let her die. We, her family, had to go and get her to take her to the hospital, but when she arrived, they couldn't do anything for her because the infection was all over her body. The nursing home staff didn't know how to do anything. She was also completely dehydrated, had a fever for two days, and couldn't drink anything. It was horrible. If you don't want your family members to go through something like this, don't take them there! Besides leaving them alone in the rooms, they don't pay attention to them, and they rush through lunch and dinner. I just hope they realize this and do something. Both the staff and the director are appalling!

This is the last place an elderly person should go. I absolutely do not recommend it. They go in full of excitement because they'll be surrounded by other people, but when you see them for the first time, your impression is completely different. They aren't given any attention and are left to their own devices. Their personal belongings vanish into thin air. If they fall, they aren't given medical attention or the necessary care. The food is terrible. All they want is to be cared for and receive a little affection, especially during these difficult times we're living in. In short, it's up to each individual to decide...

Once again, I'm giving this "NGO" a negative review. The Caritas management, and more specifically Rosario, one of the people in charge, is the least responsible person I've ever encountered. After months of repeatedly requesting itemized invoices due to a €500 increase in the membership fee, this woman, "Rosario," says that this institution is not an NGO. My question is: Why does the word "NGO" appear on the bank statements? Do you know who you represent or where you work? You are obligated to publish the accounts or general ledger of this institution's income and expenses. Or did you also get your degree from Juan Carlos I University? Yes, ma'am. The university where they hand out degrees. I would like to respond to Edu regarding his review of Caritas. I suppose that, as in all jobs, there's a mix of people: those with a vocation for helping the elderly and who do their jobs well, and I'll give you some names: Gema, Antonio, Alberto... I could add a few more, but I can't remember their names right now. And then there are some, a few, who are there because someone, or some politicized administration, has given them the job through connections, as we all know... (influence peddling). Which is a crime... these are the ones who mistreat the elderly, are lazy and ignorant of the work they do, and worst of all, their arrogance and despotism relegate them to the background, and they go unnoticed by the elderly and the family members who make only quick and infrequent visits for whatever reason. And I'll give you some names, of course... Salva, the doctor, and of course the center's director, Clemente, and Rosario. They are the only ones to blame or responsible for everything that happens in this center. I urge prudence when expressing opinions based on ignorance or affinity for the Church, which I believe is unaware or uninformed about what is happening at that residence—very serious matters, by the way. These matters will be taken to court when the time comes, not against Cáritas itself, which I am certain does good work in other areas, and in other cities, but against its directors, some employees, and the medical staff. I cannot openly disclose many details now because I know my mother, who has an 85% disability, would bear the consequences, as this wouldn't be the first time. The information I'm sharing is serious, but I assure you I have ample proof of all this. And I am willing to personally inform any family members who want proof of what I'm saying. I am not afraid for myself. I can defend myself. If you leave your email in an envelope at reception, phone, etc. addressed to "DISCONTENT RELATIVES," make sure the envelope is well sealed so no one can snoop. And I know what I'm talking about. I'd be happy to get in touch with you so that, away from the residence, I can verify everything I'm writing.
