SAN BERNABÉ AND SAN ANTOLÍN RESIDENCE PALENCIA 10/27/2025 Ms. María Lourdes Arija González Mr. Luis Godofredo (Fredo) Prieto Muñoz Lourdes and I would like to wholeheartedly thank ALL the staff at the San Bernabé and San Antolín Residence: Director, Social Worker, Nurses, Assistants, Doctors, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Staff, and other personnel, for your excellent professional, humanitarian, and dedicated work. We especially thank the entire staff for their dedication, care, and understanding, for allowing family and friends to be with Fredo in private during such a difficult time, and for offering us everything we needed to be with our beloved Fredo throughout the various stages of his life at the Residence (four years and one month). Thank you very much. A special thanks to the medical team and nurses who helped Fredo feel as good as possible, free from pain and suffering, and for the loving care and attention they provided. Thank you so much. We will never forget it. Thank you for your kind treatment, especially during these last few days of being with you, and for the support we have received from the great family at the San Bernabé Residence. We carry you in our hearts. A big hug to everyone from Lourdes and Godofredo (Fredo)

I volunteered through another platform, and they assigned me to a resident at this care home. By volunteer, I mean to provide companionship to someone who has no family or anyone else. Everything was fine until today, almost two months later, when I was informed that the person I was assigned had a transfer request to another facility due to the resident's lack of resources. I had to find out the hard way, through a woman who works in the kitchen and the resident I volunteer with. Nobody knows anything. The reception staff knows nothing, and when I spoke to the social worker, she didn't know anything either. I get the impression they're just passing the buck. I understand the reasons, but perhaps before assigning someone for this kind of thing, you should give advance notice or at least some basic information. And on a personal note, I think this situation is incredibly unfair. You're dealing with PEOPLE, and in my opinion, you've taken advantage of people's good intentions and goodwill. Thanks to this unpleasant experience, which I have no need to endure, it is very possible that I will not volunteer again.

My mother has moved into her new home at this nursing home. From Sister Pilar to the assistants, the care is excellent, and the best part is that she's happy. A 10 for the caring attitude toward the residents and families.

My father passed away a few days ago after nearly eight years at the nursing home. I want to thank the nursing home staff for the love and closeness they have always shown my father. Especially during the last period, when his condition was irreversible, you have treated him with commendable dedication and kindness. Thank you so much!

This residence is undoubtedly one of the best in Palencia. It's situated in a prime location, directly across from Palencia Cathedral, in a beautiful medieval building almost as old as, or even older than, the cathedral itself. So, if they've been doing their job for so long, they must be doing something right. I don't understand how some negative comments accuse the residence of skimping on resident care to make more money. Those who do so are acting out of malice or ignorance: the San Bernabé and San Antolín Foundation is legally, as its name indicates, a charitable foundation that does NOT profit from its work. To put it simply, this means they work 70 times harder than in a public residence (I think we all know very well how the average Spanish civil servant works), for salaries 70 times lower, driven solely by their desire to help our elderly. And all this while offering services that surpass those of many private residences at significantly lower prices. Those who say the residence isn't well-maintained probably don't visit their relatives very often (which isn't difficult for them, since the residence is right in the middle of Palencia, so they probably don't have much desire to visit them; we'd have to see if there are ulterior motives behind this, like pursuing inheritances or compensation, rather than genuine concern for their loved ones). My relative has been here for a long time, and I've never seen even the slightest neglect in the care provided. In fact, it's spotless, especially the residents' rooms. The residents are also very well cared for: you only have to see how residents in OTHER residences smell to realize that they are much better sanitized here. I also want to give special mention to the work that all the staff at this residence carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic, which no one ever acknowledged. They were on the front lines as much as, or even more than, the regular healthcare workers, and no one ever thanked them for their work. Moreover, society as a whole accused them of atrocities such as letting residents die, when all the staff in the care homes did was strictly follow government guidelines and endanger their physical and mental well-being, confronting a virus about which nothing was known at the time, even at the cost of their own safety. Thank you very much for everything, A grateful resident of Palencia.
