Opiniones

Over the past few months, my father has been admitted to Ballesol in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria due to a degenerative decline in his mental health. The centre claims to provide individualized care, but our experience has been far from that. In the mental health section, only three carers are responsible for nearly twelve residents with varying conditions such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other cognitive impairments. This ratio is simply insufficient. My siblings and I have repeatedly observed that the centre cannot ensure adequate water intake, leaving many residents dehydrated. Residents are grouped together in the dining room without any real consideration for their individual needs. When concerns were raised with the director, we were met with arrogance and defensiveness rather than understanding or action. This is unacceptable given that we are paying over €3,000 per month. The conditions do not meet my father’s needs, and it is deeply distressing to see how overwhelmed the carers are. While the carers and receptionist are genuinely kind, hardworking, and dedicated, the supervisors and especially the director are dismissive and unwilling to acknowledge or address the centre’s shortcomings. Furthermore, the facilities are outdated and show heavy signs of wear, the TV doesn’t even have a remote. My father has suffered noticeable deterioration since his admission — he has been dehydrated and his skin care has been neglected. This centre is clearly not equipped to manage the number of residents it takes in, and the promise of individualized treatment is simply not being fulfilled. I strongly believe the director should be replaced with someone who not only ensures the services advertised are provided, but also shows empathy and genuine care for the well-being of the residents. Until then, I cannot recommend this centre for anyone seeking quality, person-centred care for their loved ones.

During my stay this summer, I received excellent service. The staff were always friendly and professional. The facilities were clean and well-maintained. Overall, it was a very positive experience, and we greatly appreciate the treatment we received.

We want to share our experience at Ballesol Las Palmas because, frankly, we're surprised to read some negative reviews that don't reflect the experience of those of us who visit our family member every day. Since my father was admitted, we have felt supported, listened to, and, above all, at ease, because we know he is in good hands. The staff is what we value most. They are dedicated professionals who treat the residents with affection, respect, and patience. The facilities are clean, well-maintained, and accessible. What hurts us the most is reading negative reviews from people who, often, don't even visit their relatives regularly. As a family, we feel grateful and at peace, because we know our loved one is where he should be: in a place where he is cared for as he deserves. — The Gómez Family

From day one we felt confident. The atmosphere is welcoming and they are very concerned about the well-being of the elderly...

This residence presents itself as luxurious, but profit is its primary focus. How is it possible that they count the sponges used per shift to bathe patients (assuming they're practically shared), the diapers, or the gloves? They neglect such basic hygiene supplies. This isn't the only residence with this lack of resources.
