Sitges was a much smaller town that has grown fast in the last few years. Situated north of the train tracks, the large and beautiful grounds of the Hospital de Sant Joan Baptista might have seen a few changes, but they are an excellent reminder of what this area used to look like many years ago.

Terrible!!! We have a relative admitted and it's rare for a week to go by without something going missing. They leave her without gowns, slippers, in short, it's shameful that elderly people, who pay exorbitant fees, have their belongings disappear, and EVERYTHING IS MARKED, mind you. We are very unhappy.

In 1324, the knight Bernat de Fonollar, lord of Sitges Castle, founded the Hospital de Sant Joan Baptista, intended to provide shelter for pilgrims, the sick, the poor and other destitute. It is currently a Foundation that respects and makes it possible for the people of Sitges to have their parents, relatives or friends in a place of trust where they are well cared for.
