The caregivers are wonderful; I'd give them 4 stars. They really care about the elderly residents. The doctor leaves much to be desired, which is why I'm giving him 1 star. In my case, I had to file a complaint with the center. Unfortunately, I think it's the first one filed in the 11 years the center has been open. It was specifically due to the doctor's negligence. I think things would work differently if family members were more attentive and filed the appropriate complaints in relevant cases to prevent these kinds of situations. In other aspects, the center is quite good, although it lacks sufficient staff.

A year ago, after the state of emergency was lifted, my mother, Emérita González Blanco, was isolated in this nursing home for a week, with a fever of 38.5/39 and without having received the corresponding PCR test. Seeing this, we asked them to refer my mother to the Bierzo Hospital. This was done repeatedly. They refused to transfer her, claiming that it wasn't necessary according to the hospital's doctor, a doctor we were never able to contact. Due to her refusal to proceed with the transfer, she was told that either she would be transferred or she would be taken to court. After this, they agreed to refer her to the hospital the following day. Upon admission, the diagnosis was a gangrenous ulcer on her right foot, deep in the bone, purulent, with scabs, and cellulitis on her right leg. This came as a complete surprise; the nursing home had not informed us of her lamentable physical condition. As a result of her clinical condition, her right leg had to be amputated. The doctor told us that she would have died within three days due to the condition she was in if she hadn't been taken there. This clearly demonstrates the neglect my mother suffered during that time, the lack of care she needed, and the lack of medical attention. It demonstrates the lack of regard for the lives of our elderly on the part of the nursing home staff. For me, the biggest mistake of my life was leaving my mother in the care of these people who have no respect for life. I don't recommend that you take your elders there.
