After moving my relative to another care home a few months ago, I think I can properly assess the treatment they received and give a voice to the elderly who have to go through these circumstances. Since my relative moved to another care home, they've stopped being constantly on alert, no longer having to worry about basic things that should be taken care of (like having their pillbox filled every day, for example, or ensuring there's a nurse present during the required hours and days). They're no longer worried about things happening and not being notified, or if they are, it's too late, and there's no organization whatsoever, nor any desire to create it. I think we're all aware of the resources available in care homes and that they do what they can, but in this particular home, there are also certain caregivers and a certain manager who I don't think have a clear conscience and can sleep at night. I don't think they'll receive the same treatment they give when they find themselves in the same situation (which they will). Thankfully, there are other caregivers who do their jobs as best they can, and we should thank them for that. And finally, to those who have to take their relatives there because they have no other choice, I feel for you. If you have the option, avoid this care home.

I give them one star because I can't give them - 1. The residence smells bad, like urine, I'm not saying that the residents are poorly cared for, the smell alone tells you that... A relative of mine had to be admitted due to an infection in his legs, thanks to the new nurse who arrived and took over the dressings... They are alone all afternoon in the upstairs lounge, they directly open the downstairs doors, something unacceptable in a place where they take care of cognitive impairment... I asked the priest, the director, to manage the palliative care for my relative, requested by me, his granddaughter, since a person does not need to suffer when dying, and this good man denied them saying that they do not reach Horcajo de Santiago... Yes, they do reach anywhere. I offered to read him the community protocols... Anyway, there were also good things, I thank the night shift assistant for the treatment received, both to us and to my relative, thank you! And to the afternoon shift assistant we had, I just want to say that you have to be more empathetic when someone is approaching their farewell... I work as a nurse in a nursing home, and I know exactly what I'm talking about. Thank God I was there, caring for her until the very end, through those seizures, since you denied me palliative care. Anyway, I'd think twice before putting a family member there.
