I want to thank the team at the ACD II Day Center in Avilés for all the support, understanding, and affection I've received this year. When a family member suffers from a disease like Alzheimer's, the family often doesn't know how to help and feels lost. You try to reassure them, but it doesn't work, and you find yourself needing to seek help from experienced professionals. Coming to this center was the best decision we could have made. From day one, my mother adapted to the center, was very happy, and participated in all the activities, both physical and memory-focused, to improve her cognitive abilities. She loved doing crafts, singing, dancing with her classmates, attending parties and workshops... all in a very positive environment. Her quality of life improved dramatically, as did her attitude, because she saw herself as part of a great family where she was treated with great care and felt useful. In addition to supporting my mother, there is also the support for the families, where the help is also immense. They helped me a lot, teaching me techniques and guidelines to follow when my mother was experiencing delusions, hallucinations, anger, or not knowing how to manage the progression of her illness. Thanks to the director, Rosi. You've been a great support throughout this time. You're a great person and a tremendous professional. And thanks to the entire team; you're admirable and unique in your work.

My family and I would like to thank the entire staff for the excellent work they did with my father. The functional and cognitive therapies they provided improved his quality of life in his later years. They treated and cared for him with professionalism and care. Rosi and her entire team have been a great support to us.

I have nothing but good things to say and I want to thank this group of people who make up the team at the ACD Day Center in Avilés. The entire time my mother was able to stay here was first and foremost very special for her, mainly due to the love they've always shown her, but also because of all the attention she received. She went from never leaving the house alone to interacting with many colleagues and coworkers and participating in all kinds of activities. It was also very special for us, her family. We always felt that my mother was very protected and that her physical and mental health was improving day by day. Her experience was immensely greater than ours in treating older adults with cognitive problems: Parkinson's, dementia, Alzheimer's... Anyway, thank you so much for also taking care of my mother during the almost two years she was able to stay at your center. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to come to you again.

About 10 months ago, we decided to bring my father to this center. It wasn't an easy decision, quite the opposite. Work circumstances (my siblings' and mine) and my mother's health led us to seek this alternative, as my father was diagnosed with early senile dementia (he's 83 years old). Because he's diabetic, it's very important for him to get some physical activity, and he wasn't doing any of that at home, so we decided to look for a center where he could get some physical activity while also being able to socialize (he's always been a very talkative and sociable person). We had to "collude" with Rosi (the center's director) and with my father's doctor and nurse to tell him that they were sending him from the Health Center to a "Rehabilitation Center" to control his sugar... This was key to getting him through this... If we had told him that it was really us children, along with my mother, who found this solution... he would have told us to get lost... I only have words of gratitude for EACH and every one of the girls (I don't know their names)... From the very beginning, they treated him with affection, even though my father is somewhat "difficult" and when he shows his temper... But they are professionals above all. He started by going two days just in the morning. And since we saw that it was a great fit for him, as soon as we had the opportunity, we extended it to every day from eleven in the morning to six in the afternoon. We hired transportation, since due to work, we couldn't take him or bring him back during those hours. Natalia, the girl who came to pick him up... amazing... Endless patience... Every day I asked her where she was taking him (Groundhog Day over and over again, always the same questions over and over again)... But she always answered with patience and affection. A boy also came (I don't remember his name)... and he was also great. Sorry to go on so long in this review, but I'm running short... Other important aspects to keep in mind... You can call for information whenever you need, although they call you to ask if you have any questions or if they think they should tell you something. Aside from this, they call you once (I don't remember if once a quarter or sooner) with a psychologist who assesses them and tells you how they see it. You have the option of attending a rehabilitation session (in addition to the monthly fee). My father did a few sessions for an arm injury and the care was also very good (they won't trick you into doing more and more sessions... they will explain very well what they have and what they think you should do). More stuff... The "absorbent underwear" thing... (you know what I mean)... It was unthinkable that my father would accept this (we'd tried it at home without any success... and the "escapes" were becoming more and more frequent)... Well, there they managed to do it in a single day. I could go on and on... There's nothing negative. Honestly. Currently, my father's circumstances have changed, and we've had to make the decision for him to leave the center. A decision that was very, very well thought out. But as I said, circumstances have changed, and we've been forced to do it. I feel so sorry because the entire Rosi team has treated my father in a way I'll never forget. Thank you for not just being "professionals," period. Thank you for being, first and foremost, great people with a huge heart. Thank you for showing that what you do is your calling. Thank you, thank you, and thank you a thousand times over.

My assessment of this day center is only positive. When I took my mother there, she wasn't entirely convinced, but to this day, it's her life. She tells me that Rosa, who runs the center, and the entire team are truly wonderful, and she loves all the activities. What more could we ask for as family members?
